Corporate Governance Practices in Emerging Markets

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the corporate governance practices prevalent in emerging markets. The study delves into the varying levels of corporate governance mechanisms in these regions, including shareholder rights, board structures, and executive compensation. It explores how these practices are influenced by cultural, institutional, and economic factors. The analysis reveals that while many emerging markets have made significant strides in adopting corporate governance reforms, there remain substantial challenges that hinder the effectiveness of these practices. The paper further investigates the role of foreign investors and multinational corporations in promoting better governance standards. It concludes with recommendations for policymakers and corporate managers to enhance corporate governance in emerging markets, ensuring sustainable growth and investor confidence.
